Sacraments

Baptism  To assist the parents of Church of the Nativity who want to share their faith with their children and have them baptized. Church of the Nativity requires that all parents must attend a Baptismal Preparation Session. Parents must be registered members of the parish. Preferably, this should be before the birth of the child. This is a one night session which is held every month if needed. Baptisms are held on Sundays of the month at 1:00 PM or during a weekend Mass.
Sponsors must be practicing Catholics and able to present a certificate of eligibility from their parish. Please call the Parish Business Office (Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM 732-741-1714) regarding specific information as to date and time.

Reconciliation (Confession) Saturday 4:00-4:25 PM, or by appointment

Marriage  The Sacrament of Marriage requires a lot of spiritual preparation as well as planning and organization. Therefore, and in accordance with The Common Policy of Marriage adopted by the Bishops of New Jersey, couples are asked to make arrangements with a priest or deacon at least a year in advance of the wedding date. The bride or groom must be registered in the parish and practicing his or her faith regularly.

Confirmation, First Eucharist, First Penance  Though immediate preparation is given to children before receiving these Sacraments, children are expected to receive a Christian upbringing in their family life, to attend formal religious education classes and to participate at Sunday worship in the years prior to receiving these Sacraments.

Ministry to the Sick  Please notify the parish office of any elderly, shut-ins or sick who wish to receive Holy Communion or the Sacrament of the Sick on a regular basis. If you are a patient at Riverview Medical Center, please notify the chaplain’s office or have a family member call the parish office indicating you would like a pastoral visit from Nativity.
