During this Season of Advent, the Basic Needs Committee will be collecting monetary donations for Sand Dollar Christmas Ornaments that can be placed on the Nativity Christmas Tree at the side altar and/or taken home for your own tree. In light of the tremendous needs in our neighboring communities as a result of Hurricane Sandy, we will be using these proceeds to directly aid local, struggling families who reach out to our Parish for help with the very basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter. We have chosen the Sand Dollar as a symbol of our commitment to our neighbors by the sea. This is a wonderful "Hand to Hand" opportunity to reach individuals who have lost so much. We ask for a suggested donation of $10, however, any amount is greatly appreciated. Families are encouraged to buy an ornament for the Church tree and one to bring home for $20.

In addition, the Committee collects gifts for the elderly in local nursing homes. These senior appropriate gifts should be wrapped and labeled (male or female) and left under the tree any Sunday through the last Sunday in Advent.
